Bangladesh is full of interesting historical locations that visitors can explore. Because Indian sub-continent has been colonized by multiple colonizers and been controlled by influential kings, it has many monuments those are providing us a rich historical background of Bangladesh. Monuments like Lalbagh fort, Sixty Dom Mosque and Mahasthangarh are some of the most beautiful locations in Bangladesh that everyone should visit to learn the history.

Lalbag Fort
Lalbag Fort is one of the best tourist attraction that holds a significant history of Bangladesh. This is one of the oldest fort started constructing in 1678 by Mughal Subadar Muhammad Azam Shah son of Emperor Aurangzeb but could to complete the construction. Lalbagh Fort is situated near the iconic Buriganga River and still standing with its glory. Thousands of people visit this place every day. And a large number of international visitors come to witness the monument in old Dhaka.

Dhakeshwari Temple
This temple is located in Dhaka University area and it has witnessed many of the events happened in Dhaka. This temple was built around 1150 AD in ruling of Sena Dynasty. It is believed that Dhakeshwari Temple was built by Ballal Sen, the second ruler of the dynasty. So in short it has more than a thousand years’ history. It is also considered as the National temple because this is a state owned temple in Bangladesh and the Hindu priest of this temple are also under national paygrade. 

Sixty Dom Mosque
Shat Gombuj Mosque or Sixty Dom Mosque is one of the most impressive and important Islamic monument from sultanate period. The construction work began in 1442 under the Sundarban governor Ulugh Khan Jahan Ali. This historical mosque was the largest mosque in Bangladesh during that period and consist 77 doms and 4 minarets in total.

Mahasthangarh
Mahasthangarh is one of the impressive earliest archeological site located in Shibganj thana of Bogra district. This ramparts of Mahasthangarh has been first discovered and visited in 1808 by Francis Buchanan Hamilton. This mysterious historical place is also mentioned in 13th century Sanskrit text Vallalcharita. This historical monument includes a total set of early 3rd century architecture that has been residence and official section for Pundras. So this place is a must visited historical site if you are curious about historical mystery and beauty.

Shalban Vihar Comilla
Shalban Vihar is amongst all the prominent Buddhist temples in Moinamoti ruins and located in Comilla district. According to archeological finding, this Buddhist temple was established between 7th to 12th century. This Buddhist monastery was built during the Deva Dynasty.

In short, Bangladesh is a land of stories with many ancient historical sites those will give you enough mysterious past. Although ruins are more mysterious than the presently standing monument like Dhakeshwari temple yet all of these historical sites has something unique to offer to all the domestic and international visitors.
